hi! ok, so it appears that I was lying when I told you I would write you tomorrow about the firey depths of hell that exists on the internet!.....about 5 days ago? many apologies...let just pretend I did though, because I'm going skip onto something else hehe! No, I will get back to that. But for now im going to follow mikes instruction and let you know about how I use the internet, email, google etc. I have to say, it is pretty much the same every day, every time I log on! I have such a routine as soon as I open my internet explorer, I open another....and another!
My homepage is media2 so quick check on the BAM wall to see if there are any exciting new posts for me! Then student portal. I believe I sent 2 emails from my bournemouth email this week, one of whom was Colin about CIM meeting, and another was a foreward to my mental housemate who cant seem to get enough of dance auditions!....although all that seems to have materialised from his ventures is a prop designer for FAME!!!
I get about 5 emails to my uni address every day, I signed up to quite alot of newsletters with my uni address so I have ASOS, Amazon, Ebay and RickyGervais.com emailing me on a regular basis...which is nice!and then there are the ever frequent BMS emails about spare rooms, chamber choir auditions, campus events etc....all very interesting im sure, but mostly straight into the recycling bin! oh yeah, got a notice today about media students attempting to theive books from the library.....scandal!!! maybe we're the only school that use it!!! ooooooooooh :p
One of my most frequent inbox visitors these days is Facebook! ahhh my obsession. It (facebook, not my obsession with it) started in the states as a college only type myspace, and it migrated over to the UK about 2 years ago. The original idea was to have it only available to certain universities, then all universities but in the last couple of months it has become very public! ooh its fun (better than myspace in my opinion, although some of my friends would disagree im sure!)
So it sends me emails if I have any "new friends", or if I'v been tagged in any pictures, or new messages or wall posts.
After tidying up my inbox I go straight to my facebook and spend a few minutes trowling around there, stalking my friends and trying to find new ones!
Whilst doing this im signing into msn messenger, and proofing who is online (by appearing offline) to see if I will grace them with my presence first of course! via my msn contacts page I check my 1st hotmail address. This is the one most of my friends use to send me forewards, group emails etc. I have a few newsletters come into this inbox each day which hit the recycle bin striaght away!I do send emails from this address, but only to friends (the name of the email is so jouvenile and embaressing, I use a completely different hotmail for contact with anybody else...particularly work related!) and the way i email is similar to how i talk to my friends. I must point out however, that I DO NOT use ne of dis abrvitatn wrds crp! drvs me up da wall! lol! grr! I use grr, but only becuase there is no other way to show anger!
I then sign out and have a look around msn.co.uk first to check world and business news, then to entertainment news (the good stuff). after I have had my first dose of celacious gossip for the day, I check my 2nd hotmail account, which I have been using recently to converse with my old workmates regarding information for my dissertation. We also talk about how each others lives are going and the emails are quite laid back, but I think slightly more formal than emails to my school friends
*all the while I am messengering people and still pokin around on facebook*
*I'm a very patient person natrually so waiting for loading pages doesnt really bother me, however I am seriously scatty and click click click on different pages alot!*
So this week.....I succame to the pressure and created a MySpace, and I'm not impressed yet (apart from the stalking functionalities which are ace!). I can see the appeal, but I dont have many freinds yet so I'm just bitter and twisted I guess! So as of Wednesday I think, MySpace has made its way into my routine and gets a few moments of my attention after Facebook and Hotmail of course.
Then, being the girl that I am, I take a few minutes fill my desire to know the ins and outs of "celebrities". Perezhilton.com is my fave site for that at the moment, its quite a funny website as the writer has real personality. After you have read a few comments on certain celebs you begin to understand his opinions and jokes that he makes....simple things eh!
I cant think of many other websites I have frequented this week. I use the library website everyday to reserve books, renew books, locate books and searching through e-journals.
Oh and I bought my first christmas present of the year for my boyfriend....I dont quite understand the desire of the £30 pair of sheepskin slippers.....but hes a bit of a kook! and thats his charm!
I think I have rambled on sufficiently for one entry, I will try to come and visit tomorrow!
until then....then.

Aloha!
Well, I promised I would introduce myself in my next installment....although I'm worried what you will think of me. ( When I talk, in my head im talking to the internet as a person, anybody can find my online journal if they want to, but im going to talk to you as if you are one person, Mr. Web? Annette (a - net)? Mr I.S.H. Way?
Well I'm Hannah, I'm 21, I was born and raised in Surrey by my lovely folks! I have 2 sisters and a brother and the best dog in the world! I came to sunny Bournemouth straight after getting my alevel results, so the gap year is yet to be had. My first year was, I imagine, not like many other peoples (i'm probably going to go into a rant now about the state of accomodation Bournemouth university provide their first year students....so apologies)
I lived in the most isolated uni-let house in the world, it was not near any other students living in Winton, Charminster or Boscombe, it was in Poole, an hours walk from uni, and 15 min walk to the nearest uni bus stop which sometimes only came once an hour. And ages from Bournemouth town centre. It really makes me angry sometimes as much as I loved 3 out of the 5 housemates that were bistowed upon me (1 of whom left after a month so I was left with 2). I really missed out on the living environment that makes first years so unique; halls, location, people! it makes me angry that purbek house was built when it was and not years before, when, all the while, £0.5m was set aside for an office revamp of the vice chancellor (or so i hear)! I will always resent the university for that fact, and for some first years, they do not provide any accommodation, so helpless freshers come into a new town and are expected to find places for themselves to live.

I think I should stop there else I shall never stop! so yes, my second year was not a great deal better in terms of living environment, but that was my own fault! so we'll bypass that one! this year however, I like my house, housemates, my room, my location and my lovely boyfriend is but a minutes walk away as apposed to an hours drive around the m25 which was the case last year! so im a happy chappy, apart from this work malarky....its not about 1 night out a week! just kidding, I love it.

I think that should do it for today. I shall return tomorrow to discuss the firey depths of hell that will be faced in the afterlife by modern day society and their online alter-ego's!

But for now, good afternoon, goodevening and goodnight!

Ok, so I have been studying other peoples blogs; friends, foe's, bands, journalists, company's and complete weirdo's! Some people seem to blog every possible movement of their every day, which I'm not actually sure happens due to the copious amount of entries they seem to make. I'm not quite sure if this makes me feel sad.....that I don't have quite so many amusing anecdotes each day to publish for the world to see, or if these are the "geeks" that I hear so much about, but rarely come across, unless they are scurrying from one wireless network to the next with their VAIO macbook pro Qosmio g35 15" or whatever they're called. For others though blogging seems like an art! They have it down to a tee, its not quite a diary or a lesson or just a rant or poetry. Possibly a happy medium? I suppose I will just have to find my kind of music!
As much as I think I dont really know how to communicate my thoughts onto the web...as I sit here, I'm talking to people on msn messenger, messaging sombody on bebo, confirming my friendship with a school mate on facebook......oh and of course, browsing ABI inform to broaden my academic knowledge of my chosen dissertation topic....the wonder that is the internet! Maybe my attention requires responses to keep it interested, or the possibility of an endless stream of information, pictures, music or im just addicted to the "click"! But it doesnt seem to want to work with blank canvas.
I will remedy it I promise, but for now, i think my lap top is melting so i will put it to sleep for the night,
next installment, i think its time i introduced myself formally!
adios x
